Here are a few highlights from our Spring 2021 course listings:
This course helps to develop skills for crafting bio statements, grant documents, cover letters, and other such important pieces of writing that are rarely covered in traditional courses. Students submit drafts of their work and receive detailed, language-focused feedback to develop excellent written work.
This course is designed to refine research writing processes and products. In this course, students regularly submit their own research writing to receive one-on-one, language-driven feedback to build sound arguments, increase clarity, and facilitate communication of their results. Students also learn about strategies to improve the efficiency of their writing as multilingual authors.
In this course, students will watch and discuss films in English. Students will analyze example conversations from films, learning to use similar structures in their own conversations. Students will also have opportunities to discuss the films with their classmates, gaining valuable conversational practice.
This course is designed to help students speak to a variety of audiences, explaining their complex research topics in multiple ways. Students present and receive feedback multiple times throughout the semester, culminating in a TED-style talk given at the end of the course.
