The W.M. Keck Postdoctoral Fellowship uses a single-blind evaluation system. The members of the W.M. Keck Postdoctoral Fellowship Selection Committee are all Washington University faculty conducting world-class research in biomedical fields.
Each nomination package is evaluated based on three criteria:
- Potential to advance knowledge in biomedical research
- Potential to lay a foundation toward independence
- Potential to expand upon nominee’s skillset
Criterion # 1:
Potential to advance knowledge in biomedical research
Based on the submitted research statement and nomination letter, this criterion evaluates whether the research project addresses a justified gap in knowledge or a critical problem in biomedical research that can be properly studied within the fellowship timeframe.
Criterion # 2:
Potential to lay a foundation toward independence
Based on the submitted research statement and nomination letter, this criterion evaluates the potential for the research project and training and mentorship plan to initiate the nominee’s research specialization and career independence.
Criterion # 3:
Potential to expand upon nominee’s skillset
Based on the submitted research statement, nomination letter and the nominee’s CV, this criterion evaluates the nominee’s credentials, past accomplishments, and projected achievements in the context of the proposed research project
