The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) strives to create an inclusive and collaborative environment in which our postdocs can thrive. At the same time, the OPA aspires to contribute to the education of our postdocs to become effective DEI advocates and leaders while in WashU and after their training.
Washington University Framework for Change
Because we want our values to be woven into the fabric of our university, WashU is establishing an infrastructure to support and cultivate a stronger climate of diversity and inclusion.
Fundamentals of DEI for Postdocs
This series of 4 one-hour training sessions introduces postdoctoral appointees at WashU to the fundamentals of diversity education. Postdocs are expected to complete all four sessions during their first year of employment. The series sessions are Awareness, Understanding, Commitment, and Action.
Almost 70% of our postdoctoral appointees are on temporary visas. Even more were born and raised outside of the United States. Our international postdocs bring talent, experiences, and resilience. We are here to support you.
