Washington University provides eligible postdoctoral appointees with a defined contribution Retirement Savings Plan.
The plan
Eligible postdoctoral appointees are provided a defined contribution (403(b)) Retirement Savings Plan through TIAA. The postdoctoral retirement plan is for pre-tax employee contributions only, with no university contributions. The University does not consider postdoctoral appointees as match-eligible employees.
Eligibility
Only Postdoctoral Research Associates are eligible for the retirement plan. Postdoctoral Research Scholars are ineligible.
Enrollment
Postdoctoral Research Associates who are eligible for the retirement plan must actively enroll in the plan within 30 days from their hire date. There is no automatic enrollment for postdoctoral appointees.
